Monday Market Update: Top 10 Towns For FTHBs

These 10 towns have what first-time homebuyers want… check it out!

We proudly live, work and play in the unrivaled, innovative landscape known as Silicon Valley. Like many who reside here, we built our careers and purchased our property here long ago. For those just starting out, purchasing real estate in the Bay Area, or moving up within it, can be an understandable economic challenge. Given that more and more jobs are offering remote opportunities, it is no wonder that first-time buyers are considering moves to more affordable yet still desirable areas.

If you or someone you know is wondering what other areas have to offer and at what price, check out this read from Realtor.com titled, “Affordability Alert! Here Are the Top 10 Towns Where First-Time Buyers Can Finally Snag a Home in 2022.” If you want to learn more, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for a referral to chat with an agent who is local to one of these growing, opportunity-rich markets!

Wondering how these cities made the list? The team at Realtor.com focused on: housing affordability (specifically the ratio of list prices to the incomes of 25- to 34-year-olds in the city); availability of homes for sale (measured by the number of active listings per 1,000 households) and forecasted home sales and price growth in 2022 in the metropolitan areas (think equity!). In addition, these contenders have a high population of residents aged 25-34, low unemployment rates and short commute times as well as plentiful things to do.

*Note that the study only selected from towns & cities in the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas. (Metros include the main cities and surrounding towns, suburbs, and smaller urban areas.) Only one place per state was included to provide geographic diversity. Find details on each city here.

Did any of these cities catch your eye? If you were a first-time homebuyer, where would you look first?
