Senior Spotlight: 6 Steps to Prevent a Fall (Video)

Fall Prevention Month - September

Fall is nearly upon us… and September is National Falls Prevention Month. With many older adults home more than ever before and many more isolated with less support on account of the pandemic, we felt it was especially important to highlight how to prevent this leading cause of injuries. Studies show that falls occur in 25% of adults aged 65 to 74 each year, 29% of those aged 75-84 and 36% of those aged 85 and older.

Check out the video below for ‘6 Steps To Prevent A Fall’ from the National Council On Aging. In addition, we have compiled resources from the Fall Prevention Coalition of San Mateo County and StopFalls.Org below.

Got 2 Minutes?! Answer these 12 questions NOW to assess your fall risk!

We know that we cover this topic every year – but only because it is near and dear to our hearts. We have worked with countless older adults and their families who never expected a fall to happen, and when it did – the associated decisions and lifestyle implications were very stressful. If we can help reduce the number of individuals and families who have to endure that type of hardship, it is worth a little repetition!
