Welcome back to the Bobbi Decker Real Estate Blog! With the first full week of 2024 behind us, how are you feeling? What is your driving force? What are you most excited about today – in this moment?!
No matter where you are headed literally or figuratively this year, there are a few places in our homes that we all visit daily – the kitchen, the bedroom… and the bath. Today’s blog is about the just-dropped design trends in the latter… and most (but maybe not all!) of them are pretty chic!

Colors: Sea Green & Yellow
According the team at The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), bath design this year is inspired by nature, or at least the colors of it. Sea green (the example shown is sea green tile) and pale yellow (think first glimpse of sun in that whipped butter hue) are expected to be used in ways big and small. The easiest way to incorporate these colors is by changing your towels or adding in wall décor in these tones.
Efficient & Eco-Friendly
Wayfair Professional Design Manager Lindsey Zborowski tells consumers to expect energy efficient and sustainable materials to lead the way from a materials perspective. Spa-like sanctuaries created from teak, reclaimed wood and recycled tile are just a few possibilities. Explore more ways to go green in your bathroom courtesy of SpaceWise here.
Water Closets
The NKBA has also discovered that among consumers surveyed – water closets are a preferred and top wish list item. More peace and quiet in any room of the house is a win, and homeowners reported that a separate water closet with or without a door is desired if space is an issue.
The Tiny Fridge
Okay, let’s be honest. This is the one we are not sure we can entirely get behind. While the NKBA insists that the tiny fridge in the bath is what a coffee station is to the kitchen – we beg to differ. Proponents claim that many bath products benefit from being kept cold, but we can see an undesirable transition to a beverage and then snack space happening… and that is a big no in our book. 😉
Backlit Mirrors
Classy. Elegant. Impressive. This is the vibe that a backlit mirror can add to a bathroom, and is a fairly easy addition to a space that is already modernized and just needs a little extra glam. The NKBA believes that there will be an increased demand for this feature on account of it’s energy efficiency, soft-glow and less harsh effect, plus many have a useful anti-fog capacity.
