Honoring Our Veterans

Sharing a special message from the American Legion.

November is flying by, and this month of gratitude is truly fitting as we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day. Those of you know us know that we take the service of our country very seriously and hold only the highest regard and utmost respect for all whom have served. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

As Veterans Day approaches (occurring on a Saturday this year!), we find ourselves once again filled with pride for our country as we remember the service of SO many who have fought tirelessly to give us the freedoms we enjoy every day. While we aim to show our respect and appreciation for those veterans still with us, we also mourn those lives lost and remember the countless sacrifices made and the families left behind.

As we read through various ways to celebrate our veterans this year, there was one suggestion made by the American Legion that stuck with us.

Your phone call matters.

We all know that even when the uniform comes off and the wounds ‘heal’, there is always a cost to service. It does take a toll. The American Legion declares that

“Veterans Day is a perfect time to check on the well-being and needs of our comrades. A simple ‘How are you?’ is your opportunity to Be the One for a veteran who may need to know that someone cares, someone will listen. Last month during the Department of Veterans Affairs first National Buddy Check Week, American Legion Family members made thousands of phone calls to veterans. Department of Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Historian Dayna Beyer made Buddy Checks and said that veterans “were surprised to get the call. They had a chance to talk about what they are doing, how they are feeling, and what we could do for them. It was surely well worth it for sure.”

Your phone call matters.

We wish you all a healthy, happy and honor-filled way to celebrate our veterans this weekend, and we vow to carry them in our hearts in all that do and all that we have.

Deepest gratitude,

Bobbi
